You will have the opportunity to sign up for one of four sessions offered during the week of OCT. 1 (slots available from noon to 3 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in SZB 450H and sign-ups for specific times will be sent at a later date.). This session allows you to practice your classroom teaching techniques by preparing and receiving feedback on a mini-lesson (10-12 min.) to present to your peers.  This gives you the opportunity to improve your teaching effectiveness, prepare for teaching demonstrations on the academic job market, and observe other graduate students' teaching styles and techniques.

You can register for all four sessions in the Teaching Preparation Series at this link. See below for more information.

This program is targeted towards graduate students who hold non-classroom TA positions that focus on grading student work, attending faculty lectures, and holding office hours, but all graduate students and postdocs are welcome. The series will provide basic training in grading, communicating effectively with students, and fostering self-directed learning in students.  In addition, it will allow participants to observe, practice, receive feedback on, and reflect upon classroom teaching techniques.

If you are interested in participating in the program, please enter your contact information and indicate your session preferences. Participants who complete three of the four sessions will receive a certificate of completion that acts as a credential demonstrating your investment in professional development to future employers.

Please feel free to contact Molly Hatcher at molly.hatcher@austin.utexas.edu with further questions.  We will send a reminder prior to each session.  We look forward to working with you!
