Michal “Mikey” Calo

Michal “Mikey” Calo (she/her) is a PhD student in English with a Portfolio in Women’s and Gender Studies, researching Jewish and Black American literature from Modernism to the present. She has 5+ years of experience as a Teaching Assistant and received the Graduate School’s William S. Livingston Outstanding Graduate Student Academic Employee Award in 2021. Mikey was also awarded the CTL’s Teaching Innovation Grant for her project, “Pooling Resources: Creating Accessible DEI Material for Humanities Teachers.” As the GRA for the Experiential Learning Initiative, Mikey supports the development of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning at UT, and works on programming to promote evidence-based instructional practice across campus.
