The two workshops in this series will introduce participants to an online resource developed by the FIC, "Architecting Online Courses,"  that will guide our discussions.  A Deeper Dive Instructional Guide (DDIG), the "Architecting Online Courses" DDIG was conceptualized and built with significant input from associate professor Matt Fajkus (School of Architecture), whose Tree House project (image below) inspired our approach to understanding online course design and delivery.

Please plan to attend both workshops as they tie closely together. RSVP for both sessions!

Part 1: February 22, 2019

How should you approach the design or redesign of your courses for online or hybrid delivery? Through an examination of the ten basic questions of blended course redesign, we will begin the process of reconceiving facetoface courses for online or hybrid teaching and learning environments. In this first of two workshops, we will take a look at the ‘big picture’ of online/hybrid course design and follow backwards design principles to design a course module. We will then discuss how to choose appropriate types of content delivery for building learning communities with a focus on adopting effective practices of discussion and engagement online. Finally, considering the hybrid format, we will learn techniques for integrating facetoface and online work, and discuss these techniques through the lens of your own course.
