Discussion can be an effective classroom tool to reach a variety of course goals. In this session, you will identify course goals you may achieve through discussion, consider instructor anxieties regarding discussion, learn tools to facilitate effective discussions, and gain knowledge about a range of discussion schemes and strategies. This is the tenth session in the spring Teaching Preparation Series, which will allow participants to observe, practice, receive feedback on, and reflect upon classroom teaching techniques.

To learn more and apply, visit http://bit.ly/spring20tps. After applying, applicants will be enrolled in the Teaching Preparation Series Canvas course. Once enrolled in the Canvas course, participants may reserve a spot in each session by clicking on the Teaching Preparation Series calendar and finding the appropriate session. The number of seats left will be displayed (if available).

Participants who complete multiple sessions will receive a Certificate of Completion that acts as a credential demonstrating your investment in professional development to future employers.  Complete 3 sessions for a Teaching Preparation Certificate; complete 7 sessions and submit a qualifying Teaching Statement for an Advanced Teaching Preparation Certificate. Please feel free to contact Laura Struve at struve@austin.utexas.edu with further questions.  We look forward to working with you!
