What motivated you to become a PTF?
So many faculty scattered around the University are interested in teaching and are trying new ways to engage students. I want to facilitate the sharing of ideas within and across departments and colleges, and I hope to encourage faculty to explore and develop their teaching.
What inspired your passion for teaching?
When I saw students have the “ah ha” moment of understanding a complex idea in my subject and then enjoy applying the concept to something that interested them, those were my “ah ha” moments. I am motivated to create those moments for my students as often as possible, but it’s not easy.
What advice do you have for other teachers?
Think about your class from your average student's point of view, and use that insight to add more active learning experiences into the lecture.
