COERLL Hosting an Open Educational Resources Hangout

The Center for Open Educational Resources and Language Learning (COERLL) is hosting an OER Hangout (a discussion-based webinar) on June 3rd at 3pm. Join us to hear how engagement with OER and/or OEP influenced the teaching practices of four language instructors. There will be a 25 minute presentation segment, and the rest of the hour will be for questions and discussion.

Level Up: Engaging Students Online with Digital Badges

How do you motivate students in an asynchronous online course? Ben Bays, an instructor in the Department of Radio, Television, and Film, talks about engaging students and motivating them to go above and beyond standard course requirements through the use of an online badging application. In Ben's case, he's using an application called Badgr.  Badgr integrates seamlessly with Canvas and is easy to set up. There are both free and paid versions.
