New Canvas Public Speaking Resource for Students

The Faculty Innovation Center and UT’s Public Speaking Center present a new Canvas resource designed to help UT students improve their public speaking skills. The Oral Competency Resources for Students is designed to take students through the presentation development process from audience analysis to confident delivery. This self-paced module contains guided activities, tips, and external resources for students to explore.

Commons Sessions Start Tuesday

Finals are over. Grades are (almost?) submitted. Graduations are here. Although different in format, we hope the celebrations this weekend serve as a reward for all your hard work to support students. We are turning our attention towards summer and fall course planning. As mentioned last week, it will be exciting to introduce the Commons. This gathering place opens Tuesday with short video introductions to six course planning topics and links to supporting resources.

I hope you are all healthy and adapting as best you can to our new normal. Many of us have recently spent time restructuring our courses (as well as our daily routines), and perhaps that has focused our thoughts on what really matters. Self-reflecting on our teaching can be a very powerful tool for identifying challenges, sparking innovation, and taking time to acknowledge what we are doing well.
