PTF Recruitment: Intent Forms Due Nov. 1

The Provost Teaching Fellows (PTFs) have launched their annual recruitment process and are seeking UT faculty who are interested in joining our program. The program involves a four-year commitment to active participation in our faculty learning community and organization dedicated to improving teaching practice and campus climate at UT Austin. Fellows receive modest stipends in years 1-4 (pending continued funding), as well as funds to carry out individual projects that generate innovative teaching and programmatic models that are sustainable and scalable.

Using Videos to Create a “Culture of Learning” and Sense of Belonging

Students in their first year at UT encounter many challenges that can make them feel alone in their struggles, even as others in their classes hide the same feelings. Many professors reach out to students to offer advice and tips, but it is human nature to focus foremost on the advice originating from people who are similar—in situation, status, etc.—and faculty do not always fit that demographic from the students’ perspective.
