Shavonne Coleman

Educational Consultant, Inclusive Teaching and Learning

Shavonne Coleman (she/her/they) is an Education Consultant who is passionate about community building, collective approaches to curriculum development, and art integration to improve the quality of and access to education. Shavonne received her MFA from Eastern Michigan University, where experiences like traveling to Seoul, S. Korea to direct a Youth Theatre performance and working with the Office of Academic Service-Learning, have shaped her praxis. Other experiences that have contributed to her student-centered approach include being the Assistant Director of Acting at Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, where she developed the Mosaic Experience Empowerment Project after-school program with Detroit Public Schools, returning to her alma mater Grand Valley State for a Visiting Faculty position, and being the Theatre for Dialogue Coordinator in the Longhorn Wellness Center. Shavonne believes inclusivity is an integral part of pedagogy and hopes to support the UT community in fostering highly effective learning environments through dialogue, workshops, consultations, and events.
